July 20, 2007
The Muscatine Convention and Visitors Bureau recently joined forces with the Muscatine History & Industry Center to offer visitors a new Welcome Center, where visitors can receive accurate and reliable community information. The Muscatine History & Industry Center is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
The Muscatine History & Industry Center, located in historic downtown Muscatine, at 117 West Second Street, will provide visitors with Official Muscatine Visitors Guides, local maps, and brochures from other community attractions.
Visitors are certain enjoy their stroll through the Muscatine History & Industry Center’s interesting exhibits. The Muscatine History & Industry Center’s main floor is devoted to exploring Muscatine’s role in the pearl button industry. Muscatine, at one time, was considered the Pearl Button Capital of the world, producing 37% of the world’s annual output of buttons! The facility’s second floor displays exhibits highlighting the HNI Corporation and Stanley Consultants.
‘’The Muscatine History & Industry Center agreeing to serve as a Welcome Center for our visitors is a great benefit for everyone – travelers and the community alike,’’ says CVB manager Heather Shoppa. ‘’Many visitors arrive in Muscatine for events occurring over the weekend and often have trouble locating information regarding shopping, dining, lodging and attractions. This is one more way in which the CVB can do more to serve our visitors needs.’’
