This one-of-a-kind traveling exhibit includes the world’s largest scientific illustrations of some of the world’s tiniest creatures. Artist Jessa Huebing –Reitinger, paints enormous portraits of small, but interesting insects. Take “Mildred” the praying mantis, for example, who has been illustrated on canvas at 200 times her actual size. Did you know that a praying mantis can eat a small frog? You will after you have the chance to catch one of Project InSECT’s live performances. Educator James Huebing- Reitinger, has developed a fun and effective way of teaching art, science, and conservation to all ages through his incredible “Bug Trunk Show”. Visitors are encouraged to watch and interact with Jessa while she paints a 9’x7’ Luna Moth in flight live at the Muscatine Art Center, Wednesdays through Sundays.
